Breakthrough

“Breakthrough” has been a journey in the making for me. As layer upon layer were applied, interesting patterns and colors appeared and morphed into others but the whole composition did not “sing”…
After several days of work I abandoned it and left the studio, not knowing where it was going.
After a good night of sleep I wandered back with my cup of coffee and was compelled to grab my palette and start applying large enthousiastic spreads of paint with various tools and found myself engulfed in what was unfolding on the canvas… eventually I stopped, feeling quite buzzed and joyous. It was now complete and full of details that I never planned, only executed on the fly, and I loved it! Its name had to be: Breakthrough.
At first glance this work carries a powerful and joyful energy and illuminates the space it’s in, but when you slow down and approach it,  its many textures and patterns may evoke a myriad of impressions and evocations as you let your mind travel among them…

This is an original oil on cotton canvas, 23.5  x  31.25” (60 x 80 cm) painted around the edges and perfectly happy without a frame. If it speaks to you let your spirit guide you, as it’s really a unique piece.
