Choosing Artwork as a gift…

Hi everyone !

Today I sent an email to everyone of my patrons for whom I had a valid email address to offer them a 5% discount on all Giclee Prints, and suggesting they offer something different for Father’s Day, like a piece of artwork…

Many people find it difficult to choose a painting (or a Fine art print) for someone else, and I understand that, but there are several things to consider that can help you make a choice that will really hit the mark…

What kind of things does the person already keep in their surroundings ?  What is their favorite color scheme ? What do they take pictures of ? Do they like large things or miniatures ? Do they have a collection going on (cats, flowers, old signs, frames, etc…)? What makes them dream ? What kind of Art do they already have if any ? What is their style in general ?…

Also, when you think of them, what do you associate spontaneously to their personality ?

If you hesitate between several pieces, try to imagine it in the person’s home or office and see if it fits. Sometimes you will be very attracted by a piece and… that piece is actually what you’d like to have for yourself ! That happens. And it’s OK. In that case get it for your own enjoyment !

In case you’d like to get it, as today, Marin Magazine June cover (ie. my painting “Big Sky (Summer Glee)” :)) is available (4 sizes, framed or not) @  http://store.themarinstore.com/june-2011-cover-p2016.aspx

In any case, think about Art as a gift… many people don’t give themselves that kind of things but they do love to receive them !

More later…
