Today was a good day.
Today I saved a honey bee that was drowning in the pool.
She dried herself in the last of the sun, on my towel for a while, then she took off in the golden light of sunset and flew out of sight.
It gave me joy. And it gave her more life to live…
Sometimes the dark affairs of the world become so worrisome, or upsetting by their seemingly unstoppable unfolding, that we may feel dismayed and powerless.
Sometimes it looks like the bullies of the world are simply ripping it apart, with no heart and no concern for their own, for their kids, for their poor, centered only onto themselves and their bottomless greed, too busy plundering to be able to remember that…
They also are humans.
But when comes the desire to roll into a tight ball and ignore the unfathomable, we still have the same power we had yesterday, the power to choose our way of being. The power to refuse to hate, the power to do wherever we are, seemingly unimportant things…
We can do what we can, where we are with what we got.
Maybe it will be saving a honey bee from drowning.
Or write poetry and make art.
Maybe it will be meditating for a spell, and find peace inside, in the quiet of our heart.
That kind of peace will ripple out, invisible but potent…
Whatever it is, in our life of every day, we can find myriads of tiny things that we CAN do, that serve, help and protect, things that add up gently and make us feel joy while connecting to the universal goodness of life.
Whatever form it takes, we can always choose to broadcast compassion, to speak the truth when some of us are persecuted, to call for more humanity, to be a beacon of light and a spark for change.
In today’s society where it seems that having a strong opinion on anything is more important than being civilized and kind, each of us still has infinite opportunities to practice what will make our heart sing while adding goodness to the vast tapestry of our human doings…
We still and always will have that freedom to BE what we long for.
One tiny bee at a time.
A infinitely small thing in the grand scheme of things? Maybe so.
But priceless anyway, for its pure vibration of love and for keeping us sane and present to here and now.
Today was a good day.
With love
